Frontier Adventure Racing is excited to announce the host site for the
Nova Scotia race scheduled for May 26-27, to be Digby! Digby is a small
but exceedingly friendly harbor town in the Bay of Fundy area. It is
protected by a large volcanic spine that has been scoured by ocean waves
creating a rugged landscape and unique waterway. As you move inland the
topography becomes dotted with drumlins streamlined thousands of years
ago by advancing glaciers. The land is generally flatter with thick
scrub and many lakes. Expect some treacherous bushwacking and
challenging off-trail navigation.
Registration for the remaining spots in Raid the North – Nova Scotia opens Tuesday, January 23, at noon (EST). The first round of registration went very quickly so be ready to submit your entry if you are interested.
Registration will also open on January 23, for two other races:
Raid the North Bark Lake (Ontario), April 28-29: roughly three hours from
Toronto, this is as close as we could get to major centres and still
offer the true wilderness challenge Raid the North races are known for.
Registration for the first 25 spots filled in less than a minute for
this race so if you are interested, you better be fast on the "submit" button.
Raid the North Series Championship Race, September 28-30: held in the Temagami/Temiskaming area (based in New Liskeard), the Series
Championship race will be a very challenging 2.5-day format with a tough
field. The top 5 teams from each Raid the North race earn a spot in the
race and the remaining 25 spots are open registration (your team must
have at least two members that have completed a recognized 30-plus-hour
adventure race to be eligible to register). It is an exciting new
addition to our schedule and will certainly be a heated battle in one of
my favorite wilderness areas.
As of noon on Wednesday, January 17, only 11 spots remain for Raid the
North Extreme scheduled for June 18-22 in Newfoundland. This five-day race
including trekking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, canoeing and
mountaineering (rope ascending and rappelling) will travel across the
unique landscape of Newfoundland island. Register online to secure your spot.
